Debunking egg freezing myths, one misconception at a time

Debunking egg freezing myths, one misconception at a timeOur Tennessee egg freezing specialists want to offer support in debunking egg freezing myths. With more women utilizing the fertility preserving option of egg freezing, numerous misconceptions about this popular opportunity have been causing confusion.

Debunking egg freezing myths starts here

Quite a bit of misinformation is floating around about egg freezing, but these are the most common myths we’ve heard.

  • Myth #1 – The process is experimental. In 2013 the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, or ASRM, released a statement that said there was enough scientific data to indicate that egg freezing is safe, effective and no longer considered experimental.
  • Myth #2 – Egg freezing causes future fertility issues. An important aspect of debunking egg freezing myths is understanding that extensive studies have shown no evidence that the process of egg freezing is harmful to a woman’s future fertility.
  • Myth # 3 – Only women in their 30s freeze their eggs. A woman’s fertility peaks in her 20s and begins to decline in her 30s. Women who wish to postpone motherhood until their late 30s or early 40s should ideally consider freezing their eggs in their 20s.
  • Myth #4 – Frozen egg cycles aren’t as successful as fresh egg cycles. Current data has shown more healthy pregnancies actually result from frozen egg cycles than fresh egg cycles. In addition, research has found no difference in the risk of birth defects, chromosomal anomalies or pregnancy complications when comparing pregnancies that result from frozen eggs versus fresh eggs.

Debunking egg freezing myths is a process our Tennessee egg freezing specialists look forward to continuing with you as you explore this exciting opportunity.
