Certain fertility supplements can help patients develop a healthy pregnancy

Certain fertility supplements can help patients develop a healthy pregnancyOur Tennessee fertility clinic team sometimes recommends patients take fertility supplements. When patients pair these supplements with a healthy diet and exercise plan, they may improve their overall health and fertility. Because of these benefits, our doctors may suggest patients take particular supplements.

Fertility supplements that can improve natural fertility

Before trying to become pregnant there are a variety of supplements a person can take. Specific supplements provide nutrients that can help patients fulfill the dream of parenthood.

Folic acid. When trying to become pregnant, women should take at least 400 micrograms of folic acid daily. Folic acid is one of the most important fertility supplements. It can reduce the risk of neural tube defects in the baby and could increase fertility rates.

Vitamin E. Taking a vitamin E supplement could support the body in cell repair, in addition to the health of the ovaries and egg quality.

Fish oil. Fish oil can potentially enhance egg quality in women and sperm quality in men. This supplement can also support the healthy development of the baby’s brain.

Coenzyme Q10, or CoQ10. It’s been found that CoQ10 can possibly improve egg quality and thicken the uterine lining. It may also increase fertility rates for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who are also taking Clomid.

Our Tennessee fertility clinic helps patients determine which supplements for fertility and which dosages are ideal for their needs.

It’s important to know when to take supplements

Many fertility specialists recommend patients begin taking fertility supplements about two to three months before trying to become pregnant. This timing can help ensure the supplements have time to potentially have a positive effect on a person’s reproductive health.

We recommend patients consult a fertility specialist before taking supplements, as the doctor can help ensure they take the correct dosage and type of supplements. The doctor might also suggest particular brands known to produce high-quality supplements.

The fertility specialists at our clinic provide valuable information about how to improve natural fertility and offer leading-edge fertility evaluations and treatments. Contact us for more information about our fertility services.
