IVF Success Rates

It’s important to learn about IVF success rates before getting started with treatment

There are a variety of factors that can affect IVF success rates for patients at our Tennessee fertility center. Often, one of the most significant indicators of IVF success is a patient’s age. SART success rates show that women younger than 35 typically have the highest success rates, but this number drops as women near age 40. While age is important, working with a fertility specialist is the best way for a patient to determine their chance of having a successful IVF cycle.

Many factors can affect IVF success rates

There are many factors that can affect a patient’s IVF success rates. The physicians at our Tennessee fertility center help patients develop a better understanding of their chance of IVF success.

One of the ways that doctors do this is by ordering a variety of tests. These tests can reveal whether a patient has a fertility issue that can influence their ability to conceive with IVF.

Egg quality. Women with low-quality eggs might have a more difficult time using their own eggs to become pregnant during an IVF cycle. In some cases, the doctor might recommend the woman utilize an egg donor.

Uterine health. Uterine issues, such as polyps or fibroids, anatomical abnormalities and other conditions that can interfere with implantation, can impact success rates.

Embryo transfer. Whether a patient chooses to have a fresh or frozen embryo transfer can affect the success of the IVF cycle. The patient’s doctor should work closely with the patient to determine whether a fresh or frozen transfer is best for the patient’s unique needs.

Sperm health. Issues with sperm like abnormal shape, poor mobility, inability to attach to the head of the egg and a low sperm count can influence the success of IVF.

Because the IVF protocol that a clinic uses can affect success rates, it’s important for women to seek care at a clinic with highly qualified specialists who are wellversed in the latest fertility treatments.
